Landfill gas generated from municipal solid waste is a potent greenhouse gas due to the significant methane content.

Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill managed by Berjaya Enviro Parks has been extracting landfill gas and producing renewable energy since 2011. In 2022, an additional 2 MW high efficiency gas engine will be added to the six gas engines already in operation, making the total installed capacity to 12 MW. This is the largest single landfill gas power project thus far in Malaysia and the South East Asia region.

The 7th Gas Engine has recently passed the local factory test to demonstrate the electrical efficiency rate of 42%, which is considered very good rate in the biogas engine sphere.

Eco-Ideal is grateful to be part of the team to ensure the successful implementation of this additional renewable energy capacity increase.
