The World Bank has initiated a creative carbon financing programme known as the “Pilot Auction Facility – for Methane and Climate Change Mitigation”.

One of the objectives of the programme is to enable eligible methane reduction projects, which had earlier registered under the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), to be able to trade their carbon credits to be generated via an “auction” approach – where World Bank will facilitate a minimum price as put option.

Many of the methane avoidance projects in Malaysia will be eligible to participate in this programme. The programme is still under development and the first auction is targeted to be around end of June 2015.

Eco-Ideal will be assisting interested CDM project owners to participate in this programme. We are already in process to assist one of our methane avoidance projects in Malaysia and do not hesitate to contact us (econsult@ecoideal.com.my) to find out more!
