The Completion Event for the “Study on Integrated Management of Electrical and Electronic Waste in Sabah” was successfully concluded on 13 October 2014 at Shangri-La Hotel Tanjung Aru, Kota Kinabalu, Sabah. A total of 105 participants attended the event, which was officiated by YB Datuk Seri Panglima Masidi Manjun (Minister of Tourism, Culture and Environment Sabah) and Yang Berbahagia Datuk Bruno Vun (Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Resource Development and Information Technology Sabah).

Puan Zurani of Department of Environment (DOE) Malaysia introduced the proposed e-waste management system that will be implemented in Malaysia. Elements of the presentation included the history and past initiatives leading up to the establishment of the system, and components of the proposed system including system flow, regulations, roles and responsibilities and recycling fund.

Our CEO, Engr. Soon presented a synopsis of the study, including study objectives, project activities, e-waste projection and economic analysis results, identified barriers, proposed policy and regulation system, proposed management action plan, financial gaps and way forward.

The presentations were followed by a short Q&A session where participants were given the opportunity to put forward any questions they had regarding the e-waste system.
