In response to addressing climate change, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment in cooperation with United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) is currently developing a framework for a national carbon disclosure programme for Malaysia.

A stakeholder consultation workshop on national carbon (GHG) disclosure programme for Malaysia was held recently at Putrajaya Shangri-La on 12 July 2012. The workshop was attended by 69 enthusiastic participants representing various government agencies, private companies, business associations, NGOs and so forth.

Dr. Fong Wee Kean, GHG protocol senior associate with World Research Institution (WRI) shared his valuable experiences in GHG reporting with the participants. In addition, four other local companies (DIGI, Malaysia Airlines, TNB and SIRIM) also presented their experiences related to carbon reporting.
