The diversion of food waste for recycling is a major opportunity for increasing the waste recycling rate in Malaysia. Such effort will also lead to the reduction of Greenhouse Gases (GHG) Emission from the country, thus supporting Malaysia’s pledge to address global warming.

Under the National Key Economic Areas for Greater Kuala Lumpur/Klang Valley (EPP9), initiatives, the Performance Management & Delivery Unit (PEMANDU) under the Prime Minister’s Department is keen to explore the potential of recycling food waste.

The study is led by the Department of Solid Waste Management under the Ministry of Housing and Local Government and Eco-Ideal will work as a sub-consultant under Malaysian Environmental Research Centre Sdn. Bhd. (MREC).
