Landfill Gas To Energy Project in Bukit Tagar

Eco-Ideal Consulting has been engaged as the project management consultant for implementing the landfill gas recovery to energy project in Bukit Tagar Sanitary Landfill, located 50 km North from Kuala Lumpur.

Bukit Tagar is a modern sanitary landfill receiving close to 2500 metric tonnes of domestic waste from Kuala Lumpur and Selayang of Selangor everyday.

Significant amount of landfill gas generated from the landfill is currently released to the atmosphere. Landfill gas, consisting of significant amount of methane, is widely regarded as a great energy sources. The operator of the landfill, KUB-Berjaya Enviro Sdn Bhd (KBE) has decided to invest in recovering the landfill gas and convert them to valuable energy source. In doing so, KBE will also significantly reduces the emission of greenhouse gases (methane) to the atmosphere – thus contributing to the effort of Malaysia in combating climate change.

Eco-Ideal’s role of project management compliments well with the role as the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) consultant to the project. The key role will ensure the construction of the system complies with all requirements under the application of CDM.
